LSF is looking for a talented Family Support Supervisor who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose and Impact:

The Family Support Supervisor will provide leadership and implement the path and means for fulfillment of LSF services. Duties include the general supervision and coaching of designated staff, services accountability and criteria adherence and related administrative tasks. The Supervisor maintains a team approach to management and fosters a culture that encourages staff members to participate in planning both their specific jobs and LSF services. He/she seeks to establish a respectful, collaborative work environment that enhances the well-being of both families and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Family support services are intended to provide assistance and support to the Case Management Organization by performing tasks such as client transportation, supervised visitation, foster parent support and any other support functions as needed. The supervisor position is responsible for direct supervision of the Family Support Worker team and may be asked to assist with these direct responsibilities when needed.
  • Implements the vision and direction for LSF services, in line with the LSF mission and philosophy; implements goals and objectives for staff and services.
  • Complies with and monitors implementation of all agency/service policies and procedures; identifies appropriate procedures for various situations; participates in policy and procedure development.
  • In collaboration with HR, facilitates applicable program staff team building, hires/terminations, employee relations, supervision, performance evaluation, training, and professional and personal development.
  • Organizes and directs the work and activities; advises staff on difficult issues and makes decisions on exceptional situations to manage and implement appropriate services and assistance.
  • Provides supervision to Family Support Services Specialists that is strength-based, proactive, and collaborative.
  • Ensures that staff are fully trained as necessary to provide quality client services.
  • Develops and implements collaborative, cooperative, regularly scheduled, individual and group supervision with Family Support Specialists.
  • Makes home visits occasionally with Specialists for coaching purposes and to ensure the family’s needs are being recognized and addressed in a strength-based manner.
  • Offers staff continuous feedback and completes performance evaluations; recommends appropriate personnel actions.
  • Provides necessary direct supervision, transportation, or other supports to Family Support Team.
  • Reviews all encounters to ensure accountability and compliance.
  • Monitors staff hours and scheduling to ensure compliance with LSF policy and procedures.
  • Oversee agency vehicle fleet maintenance and inspection and coordinate the transportation of children to and from program placements, supervised visits, medical and dental appointments.
  • Maintain weekly Transportation Request tracking sheet and assign requests for supervision and transportation as appropriate.
  • Prepare required reports and other documentation as instructed by Assistant Program Directors/Program Director.
  • Participate in community outreach programs which shall include but are not limited to, recruitment events, meetings, and support groups.
  • Attend and participate in staff/professional trainings, meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Maintain contact with upper management regarding changes and updates regarding on-call needs.
  • Facilitate team meetings quarterly to provide updates and trends within the agency.

Communication Skills: Keeps Permanency Specialist Manager fully informed of activities, pertinent issues, upcoming events and potential problems. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills in daily work.

Teamwork: Supports the unit, department and/or organization and works with others in an effort to accomplish the goals of the unit, department and/or organization.

Safety: Employee makes a reasonable effort to adhere to established safety procedures and practices in the work area and ensures that unit workers do the same.

Training: Attends and successfully completes all mandated training courses.

Confidentiality: Adheres to all confidentiality rules.

Other:

The Family Support Specialist Supervisor is charged with ensuring that their Family Support Workers fully understand and successfully implement the scope and responsibilities of their positions and are able to execute all job functions adequately.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive, use phone, sit for long periods of time, and write notes as required.
  • Adapt to irregular working hours, perform moderate lifting.
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate auto liability insurance required.

Education:

High School diploma, with a bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred.

Experience:

One to three (1-3) years’ experience with community/social service agencies is required. Past supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills:

  • Must have good time management, organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment effectively with clients, co-workers, volunteers, government agencies and the general public.
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Certified First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, parents, co-workers, volunteers, governmental and other agencies, and the general public.

Other:

Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

  • Liaison to government, courts, schools, and community providers
